How do I reset the music library on the iPhone? I want my music back. I connected the iPhone to a power source and encountered the same outcome. I power cycled the iPhone and encountered the same outcome. I repeated this process several times with the same outcome everytime. Just like Cesarion it stopped with an error message that it was not possible to load my iCloud Library. I went back over to Music and it stated "Loading Library". When prompted to Merge or Replace I selected to Replace the library on my iPhone. When I got back home and reconnected to WiFi I turned off and then on the iCloud Music Library setting. However, there were very few songs I add to my iPhone from Apple Music. My phone had several gigs of music downloaded from my iCloud Music Library. I decided to listen to an audiobook in iBooks and found that it too was completely empty. Then I went to listen to these 2 songs and I found a completely empty Music Library. On Tuesday I listened to a TWiT podcast on my iPhone 6. I added Rihanna's Sledgehammer and Fall Out Boy's Ghostbusters to My Music. On Monday night I was listening to music on my AppleTV. I had Apple Music and iCloud Music Library turned on. I have experienced a similar problem as Cesarion. So, can someone please confirm that my logic is correct: turning on iCloud Music Library will remove tracks that are not avail on Apple Music (#2), and that there is no way to download (keep) a song/album for offline listening without enabling iCloud Music (#1)? Anyone know of a workaround for either issue? On the contrary, the playlists were then emptied on my Mac!! So much of my hard work of the years, gone!!
I was in shock: empty playlists!! I then made matters worse by connecting my phone to my Mac, thinking they would be restored. Issue #2: It appears that whatever tracks on my phone that are not available on Apple Music were erased from my phone.
So i turned it on on my iPhone, which led to. Loading files to my iOS devices or to my Mac now requires iCloud Music Library. Issue #1: I subscribed to Apple Music in iOS 8 or 9 (before iCloud Music Library) and had the ability to download songs or albums to my device.
I've created many playlists on my Mac, and sync my music through playlists (manual and "smart") to my iOS devices. I listen to a wide range of music, and much of it is NOT available on Apple Music, especially recordings of friend's music, etc. I have an extensive music library, with many playlists built over the years - been ripping my own CDs since before first version of iTunes.
